Why We Care

I started in health care in 2004 seeking the satisfaction that comes from helping people each day.

After 10 years in hospital health care, my passion for health care grew to finding ways to prevent those chronic diseases and conditions that landed people in the hospital.

Just before I graduated Nurse Practitioner school, my Father passed away out of town in an ICU. My father was my healthcare cheerleader and by all measures an excellent patient. I had so many questions...

Where did he go wrong?  Why did he die at a relatively young age? Were there other treatments or options that may have saved or extended his lifespan?

He had been following medical advice, taking his prescriptions religiously, and never missed a check-up.  After more research I realized that his medical care, and the care of so many Americans is more reactive than proactive.

Had I known then, what I know now, I may have been able to change the outcome.  I want to help those people, like my father,  who are tired of adding another pill to their routine or surgery to their list.

After searching for a position in the Integrative and preventative field of Medicine; I settled on a job at an Integrative Health office, but I was not satisfied.

I realized I had to set out on my own to truly treat patients as I would want to treat my friends and family.
